WATCH 2013 Study Days
Inclusive Church would like to remind everyone of the study days WATCH is putting on in collaboration with Queen’s, Birmingham in the spring of 2013. These follow from an extremely successful introductory day with Lucy Winkett in October. We meet from 10.30 to 4pm in Birmingham and the day costs £25 for waged/stipended and £10 for concessions (including lunch!)
Each day will have a different focus and we are fortunate to be able to offer three very distinguished key note speakers …
2ndFeb – ‘Biblical perspectives on gender’ with Dr Paula Gooder
16thMarch – ‘Theories of gender’ with Prof Elaine Graham
20thApril – ‘Historical perspectives on gender’ with Prof Adrian Thatcher
Please book as soon as possible (an application form is attached). The October day sold out and if numbers are tight, preference will be given to those who are booking on to all three sessions and those who have signed up to the Postgraduate Certificate course with Queen’s (see below). Final date for booking is 25 January 2013.
More details will follow in the New Year. In the meantime please pencil the dates into your diaries and read the information below about signing up to the Post Graduate Certificate in Transformative Theologies of Gender. For more information about the days or the Certificate course please contact Nicola Slee via firstname.lastname@example.org
Post Graduate Certificate in Transformative Theologies of Gender
For those of you who wish to engage more deeply in the issues raised by the study days, and by recent events in Synod, there is the opportunity to register for a postgraduate qualification at Queen’s. Two modules are offered, one focusing on theologies of gender and one on the spiritual resourcing of men and women within the church. Signing up for the course this will entitle you to further specialist study sessions in the spring/summer semester, with input by Nicola Slee (dates and times to be negotiated with those who sign up) and a second module in the autumn term. One-to-one tutorials, intensive small-group work, detailed guidance on reading and an opportunity to write assignments relating to the course will supplement lectures and input. The three Study Days therefore form only a small part of what is on offer through the postgraduate certificate. Please contact Nicola if you need more information or would like to talk through the issues. If you are thinking of registering for the course, it would be helpful if you could be in touch with Nicola as soon as possible – email@example.com. Please see this flier for more information and the registration form. For those of you for whom the money may be a barrier, the Women’s CME Trust may be able to provide assistance to women clergy and accredited lay workers.
